I’m Tommy, the owner of OMI Astro.

Previously, I worked as a manager with a engineering background in the internet industry for 20 years. During the pandemic, like many others, I experienced significant changes in both the world and myself. It was a time of reflection, with moments of gain as well as challenges. By early 2023, I came to the realization that I no longer wanted to continue on the same path. Although the job provided a good income, it wasn’t the life I desired. With the support of my family, I resigned in March 2023. After two months of preparation, I officially registered OMI OPTICS USA LLC in California on May 14, 2023, and launched the OMI Astro website. It’s an astronomy brand under OMI OPTICS that allows me to pursue what I love and, hopefully, make a meaningful impact on the world. Yes, astrophotography is my passion.

My journey into astrophotography began before 2014, when I acquired my first real telescope. I still vividly remember the excitement I felt when I captured a 5-minute exposure of the Orion Nebula. It was stunningly bright, full of detail, mysterious, and almost unbelievable. From that moment, I was hooked on astrophotography. It was through this passion that I met Mr. Ark, who later became a partner in OMI Astro.

Mr. Ark is someone I greatly admire. Starting from the ground up, he built a strong reputation for his exceptional business acumen and integrity. In 2017, he successfully established a private Gemini Observatory in Yunnan, China—OMI Astro’s first observatory partner. At the time, I was among his first clients, hosting my astrophotography equipment there.

1. Value for money: Our pricing is highly competitive and affordable. For example, imaging with our FSQ106 costs just $20/hour, or as low as $8/hour with a monthly subscription.

2. Variety of choices: We offer a wide range of telescopes, from 4-inch refractors to 17-inch CDK telescopes, with focal lengths ranging from 300mm to 3000mm, catering to diverse customer needs. All our hardware is from top-tier brands. Additionally, we provide high-quality image datasets and sell premium products, ensuring customers find everything they need for a seamless experience.

3. Flexible pricing: In addition to charging by imaging time like most competitors, we also offer full access to our telescopes, which is rare in the industry. Clients can choose one-month rental or annual subscriptions, tailoring their plan to their budget and needs.

4. Time zone advantage: For clients in Europe and North America, the time zone difference allows them to use our remote telescopes during their daytime, enabling them to enjoy quality time with family in the evenings without staying up late.
